Executive Director, Indian National Science Academy
Dr. Brajesh Pandey is Executive Director of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi. He also serves as Coordinator of the INSA-Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation Policy and Principal Investigator of the DST-Centre for Policy Research, leading major national initiatives in science policy, governance, and outreach.
He earned an Integrated M.Sc. in Physics and a PhD in Physics from IIT Kanpur in 2008. He began his career in academia and later became Professor in the Department of Applied Sciences at Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune. A strong advocate of experiential learning, he developed more than 500 demonstration-based physics experiments and conducted workshops nationwide to train teachers in innovative teaching methods.
Dr. Pandey has also contributed to national science education reform. He is a member of the committee revising NCERT Physics textbooks for Classes XI and XII and serves as Controller of Examinations for Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan, a national initiative of Vigyan Prasar and Vigyan Bharati. He has also worked with CBSE and state boards on curriculum and assessment reforms.
His research focuses on nanophase materials, exchange bias in thin films, and magnetic properties of alloys. He has published over 50 papers and received the Dr. Vikram Sarabhai National Award for Popularisation of Science in 2018.
